Murphy Goode Winery

Tim Murphy, Dale Goode, and David Ready started their wine venture in the mid-80's, with the help of winemaker consultant Merry Edwards. Their success was almost immediate and their production increased exponentially in the 1990s. . The descendants of the three partners are all still invested in the winery: David Ready Jr. became the winemaker in 2001, and the Murphy family still possesses assorted vineyards in the Alexander and Russian River Valleys.
The wine style tends toward an expression of the rich natural fruit of the grapes grown in this part of Sonoma, without losing any balance and elegance.
Murphy-Goode wines are fun to drink and full of character!

Wines Offered: You are pretty much sure to find a wine you like at Murphy-Goode tasting room. The wine offerings include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay for the whites, and Zinfandels and Bordeaux varietals for the reds. An interesting wine to taste is their limited Petit Verdot.

  Marc's selection:
  •    Cabernet Sauvignon, Ellis Ranch, 2002: A great Cabernet that shows the potential of the Alexander Valley for producing Bordeaux varietals. This wine shows intense cassis and spice on the nose, typcially associated with a classy, elegant palate.
