Forchini Winery

The Forchinis have been growing grapes in the Dry Creek Valley since 1971. Jim decided to start making wine in the mid-80's and built his winery in 1986. However, the family still sells 75% of their grapes to various local winemakers.
Forchini wines are characterized by their elegant aromas and food-friendliness, which puts Jim Forchini in the small group of Californian winemakers who do not associate winemaking with producing high alcohol and over-ripe "fruit bombs."
Jim has real admiration and taste for the wines of the old world, and enjoys the connection to his family wine-making traditions started in Italy a few centuries ago.

Wines Offered: The Italian varietals and the Cabernet Sauvignon are the most interesting.

  Marc's selection:
  •    Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley: I enjoyed this Pinot for its fruit forward and balanced palate. This red berry character on the nose is not overpowered by too much oak, which makes this wine delicious with food. Try this Pinot with a good salmon dish!
