Chateau St Jean

Chateau St-Jean is one of the most historic estates in the Sonoma Valley. The winery became famous in the 1970's for its single vineyard Chardonnays. In the past thirty years, the winery expanded tremendously and now produces more than 250,000 cases of wine, with the Sonoma Chardonnay representing almost half of the total production.
The style of winemaking is based on expressing California exuberant fruit, always associated with the traditional oak flavors. The line of reserve wines is impressive, with their famous Bordeaux blend Cinq Cepages representing an age-worthy, complex red wine. I love to visit Chateau St-Jean. The wines are always attractive, and the buildings and gardens are stylish and elegant. It is definitively one of the "must stops" in Sonoma Valley.

Wines Offered: The estate offers a large selection of varietals, including some great reserves wines. Look for the Cinq Cepages, and the malbec in the reserve range.

  Marc's selection:
  •    Chardonnay, Robert Young Clones: A rich, creamy offering from one of the historic Chardonnay specialists in Sonoma. The nose shows intense aromas of exotic fruit, vanilla, and notes of hazelnut. The palate is full-bodied with a pleasant acidity and a medium-length finish.
